Profile Summary

Dr Wong Yin Onn joined the pioneer faculty of the Clinical School in Johor Bahru in February 2007 when the first batch of clinical students reported for clinical training.

Dr Wong graduated MBBS with distinction from the University of Malaya, and obtained post graduate qualifications in Internal Medicine; MRCP(UK), AM(Msia), FRCP(Glas).

He was Visiting Lecturer at his alma mater in 1988 -1989. He wrote a book on “Emergencies in Internal Medicine” in 1988. This book was updated as an eBook in 2010.

An eBook "A Primer of Clinical Diagnosis" was written in 2012 to help medical students entering their clinical years in the art of Clinical Diagnosis.

An eBook "Q & A in Internal Medicine" was written for senior medical students based on questions discussed at Bedside teaching. This book reached its 3rd edition in 2015.

An eBook "100 Examination Topics in Internal Medicine" was written in 2016 to help students with commonly asked examination topics.

Dr Wong has been active in teaching medical students and doctors in Johor Bahru since 1990. Dr Wong has also been teaching Buddhism regularly in Johor Bahru, Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, Jakarta, Bangkok, Manila and HCMC the last 2 decades, and was an invited speaker at the 3rd, 7th and 8th Global Conferences on Buddhism. In recognition of his work, he was awarded the 2017 Nalanda Award for Dhammaduta work.
