Dr Tessa Dunseath joined Monash University in January 2007 as Professor of Medical Education. A Doctor of Education and Fellow of the Higher Education Academy in the UK she also holds dual teaching qualifications in both healthcare and the humanities. Recently, she has held the posts of Associate Professor in the College of Health Sciences, University of Sharjah, UAE, and Director of Clinical Skills, University of Plymouth, UK. Her previous experience includes: the design and implementation of the curriculum of two masters degrees, and the curriculum contextualization and development of the BScN for the University of Sharjah. She has broad experience in inter-professional clinical skills teaching, and the establishment of new skills centers both in the UK and internationally. Prof. Tessa’s interests include assessment, and she was responsible for the introduction of the integrated structured clinical examinations (ISCEs) into the University of Sharjah. Her current research interests in medical education include: measuring the effectiveness of bedside clinical teaching, problem based learning versus the didactic approach: the tutor’s perspective, and Innovative Assessment: the use of the poster as a means of student assessment.
